Richard Townsend1

Richard Townsend was born on 15 July 1684.2 He was the son of Commander Bryan Townsend and Mary Synge.1,3 He married Mary Synge, daughter of Very Rev. Samuel Synge and Mary Boyle, after 23 March 1707/8.3 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Becher, daughter of Henry Becher and Catherine Owen, in 1724. He died in November 1742 at age 58.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 11 November 1742.4
He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1715.4 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Cork in 1726.3,4 He lived at Castle Townsend, County Cork, IrelandG.3

Mary Synge1

Mary Synge was the daughter of Very Rev. Samuel Synge and Mary Boyle.2,3 She married Richard Townsend, son of Commander Bryan Townsend and Mary Synge, after 23 March 1707/8.3 She died before 1707, from smallpox.1
From 1705, her married name became Townsend.1
