Major Hugh Blomfield Nicholson1

Major Hugh Blomfield Nicholson was born on 13 November 1866.2 He was the son of William Nicholson and Isabella Sarah Meek.3,4 He married, firstly, Kathleen Laura Burke, daughter of Ulick John Burke and Edith Charlotte Barnardiston, on 17 December 1902.1 He married, secondly, Eileen Dorothy Northey, daughter of Frank William Northey, on 28 February 1940.2 He died on 10 December 1958 at age 92.2
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.2 He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.2 He gained the rank of Major in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Dorset in 1926.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset.2
