Brigadier John Roberts Booth was born on 5 January 1901.1 He was the son of James Erskine Wise Booth and Hilda Mary Hall-Dare.1 He married Sheila Victoria Barron, daughter of Richard Bankes Barron, on 3 December 1938.1 He died on 2 June 1971 at age 70.2
He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1920, in the service of the 14th Punjab Regiment, Indian Army.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier in 1931.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded three times.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1945 and bar (1945.)1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in 1947 in the Wana Brigade.1 He retired from the military in 1948.1 He lived in 1958 at Rainsford Lodge, Bunclody, County Wexford, IrelandG.1
