Francis Laird Cassidi was born on 20 December 1889.1 He was the son of Francis Richard Cassidi and Marion Elizabeth Duncannon.2 He married Phyllis Mary Haviland, daughter of Reverend Arthur Coles Haviland, on 16 September 1924.1 He died on 17 September 1963 at age 73.1
He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.) in 1914.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1915 with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.)1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.R.D.)1 He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (M.R.C.S.E.)1 He was Surgeon to HM King George VI.1 He lived at Glenbroook, County Londonderry, IrelandG.1
