James Bruce, 12th Earl of Kincardine was born on 20 July 1811.1 He was the son of General Thomas Bruce, 11th Earl of Kincardine and Elizabeth Oswald.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Mary Cumming-Bruce, daughter of Charles Lennox Cumming-Bruce of Roseisle and Kinnaird and Mary Elizabeth Bruce, on 22 April 1841.1 He married, secondly, Lady Mary Louisa Lambton, daughter of John George Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham and Lady Louisa Elizabeth Grey, on 7 November 1846.2 He died on 20 November 1863 at age 52 at Dhurmsala, IndiaG.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
