George Dewar was born in 1708.1 He was the son of David Dewar.2 He married, firstly, Christina Panton, daughter of John Panton, on 22 August 1744 at St. Paul's Cathedral, London, EnglandG.1 He married, secondly, Lady Caroline Bertie, daughter of Peregrine Bertie, 2nd Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven and Jane Brownlow, on 31 October 1753.1 He died on 12 July 1786.1
He matriculated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, on 5 April 1721.1 He was Captain of the merchantman Caesar in 1737.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1744.1 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1748.1 He lived at St. KittsG.1 He lived at DominicaG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He purchased Doles, Andover, Hampshire on 1 May 1782.1 He lived at Enham House, Andover, Hampshire, DominicaG.1

John Dewar1

John Dewar was born circa 1746.1 He was the son of George Dewar and Christina Panton.2 He married Caroline Vernon, daughter of James Vernon, on 27 August 1766.1 He died before 1813.1 His will was proven (by probate) between 1813 and 1816.1
He gained the rank of Ensign in the 1st Regiment Foot Guards.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cricklade between 1776 and 1780.1 In 1786 he was disinherited by his father for extravagance.1
