Major Francis Horatio Napier1

Major Francis Horatio Napier was born on 7 February 1861.2 He was the son of Hon. William Napier and Louisa May Lloyd.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Elizabeth Horatia Hope, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Hope, V.C. and Margaret Jane Cunninghame Graham, on 26 April 1893.1 He and Margaret Elizabeth Horatia Hope were divorced in 1923.1 He married, secondly, Isoline Richards Shotter, daughter of Frederick Barriff Shotter, on 2 October 1923.2 He died on 10 September 1949 at age 88.2
He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 He graduated from London University, London, England, with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.S.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)2 He gained the rank of Major in the South African Medical Corps (Reserves.)2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.2 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) [Transvaal]2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)1 He graduated from Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa, in 1922 with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)2
