Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Dermot Boyle was born on 2 October 1904 at Rathdowney, County Laois, Ireland.2,3 He was the son of Alexander Francis Boyle and Anna Maria Harpur.3 He married Una Carey in 1931.2 He died on 5 May 1993 at age 88 at Sway, Hampshire, England.2,3
He was educated at St. Columba's College, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.2 He was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.) on 8 June 1939.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) on 1 January 1945.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January 1946.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre on 11 June 1947 Belgian.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 1 January 1953.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) on 16 July 1953.2 He was Chief of the Air Staff between 1956 and 1959.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 1 January 1957.2 He gained the rank of Marshal of the Royal Air Force.1
