James Stevenson, 1st and last Baron Stevenson1

James Stevenson, 1st and last Baron Stevenson was born on 2 April 1873.1 He was the son of Archibald Stuart Stevenson and Elizabeth Morrison.1 He married, firstly, Jessie Baird Hogarth, daughter of James Hogarth, on 18 June 1897.1 He married, secondly, Stella Fraser, daughter of William John Fraser and Jane Palmer, in 1918.1 He died on 10 June 1926 at age 53, without issue.1
He was educated at Kilmarnock Academy, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1 He was managing director of John Walker & Sons, whiskey distillers.1 He was vice-chairman of the Ministry of Munitions Advisory Committee in 1917.1 He was created 1st Baronet Stevenson [U.K.] on 21 February 1917.1 He was member of the Army Council in 1919.1 He was member of the Air Council between 1919 and 1921.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1922.1 He was chairman of the Board of the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley between 1924 and 1925.1 He was created 1st Baron Stevenson, of Holmbury, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 7 May 1924.1
