Reverend James William Sackett Tomlin was born on 18 July 1871.1 He was the son of George Taddy Tomlin and Alice Chesshyre.1 He married Dorothy Edith Meyrick, daughter of Reverend unknown Meyrick, on 3 July 1906.1
He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was the Warden at St. Augustin's Missionary College, Canterbury, Kent, England G.1 He held the office of Canon of Canterbury.1
