Sir Henry Urmston Willink, 1st Bt.1

Sir Henry Urmston Willink, 1st Bt. was born on 7 March 1894.2 He was the son of William Edward Willink and Florence Macan Urmston.2 He married, firstly, Cynthia Frances Fletcher, daughter of Herbert Morley Fletcher, on 11 December 1923.2 He married, secondly, Doris Campbell Preston Sharman, daughter of William Campbell Sharman, on 8 August 1964.2 He died on 1 January 1973 at age 78.2

(Conservative) for North Croydon between 1940 and 1948.2 He held the office of Bencher of Inner Temple in 1942.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1943.2 He held the office of Minister of Health between 1943 and 1945.2 He was Master between 1948 and 1966 at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was chairman of Royal Commission on Betting, Lotteries and Gaming between 1949 and 1951.2 He held the office of Vice-Chancellor of the Cambridge University between 1953 and 1955.2 He was chairman of Commission on Minorities Nigeria between 1957 and 1958.2 He was created 1st Baronet Willink, of Dingle Bank, City of Liverpool [U.K.] on 20 July 1957.1 He was chairman of Royal Commission on Police between 1960 and 1962.2
