Sir Godfrey Nicholson, 1st and last Bt. was born on 9 December 1901.2 He was the son of Richard Francis Nicholson and Helen Violet Portal.2 He married Lady Katharine Constance Lindsay, daughter of David Alexander Edward Lindsay, 27th Earl of Crawford and Constance Lilian Pelly, on 30 June 1936.2 He died on 14 July 1991 at age 89.2
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1925 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservate) for Morpeth between 1931 and 1935.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
