Lady Mary Helena Maitland was born on 23 October 1938.2 She was the daughter of Ivor Colin James Maitland, Viscount Maitland and Helena Ruth Perrott.1,2 She married Robert Michael Christian Biddulph, 4th Baron Biddulph, son of Michael William John Biddulph, 3rd Baron Biddulph and Lady Amy Louise Agar, on 9 April 1958.1 She died on 16 September 2023 at age 84.3
On 28 October 1953 she was granted the rank of an earl's daughter.2 Her married name became Biddulph. After her marriage, Lady Mary Helena Maitland was styled as Baroness Biddulph on 21 July 1972. She lived in 2003 at Great Ridge Hall, Makerstoun, Kelso, Roxburghshire, ScotlandG.4

Ivor Colin James Maitland, Viscount Maitland was born on 29 August 1915.1 He was the son of Ian Colin Maitland, 15th Earl of Lauderdale and Ethel Mary Bell-Irving.1 He married Helena Ruth Perrott, daughter of Colonel Sir Herbert Charles Perrott, 6th Bt. and Ethel Lucy Hare, on 29 October 1936.1 He died on 18 January 1943 at age 27 at North AfricaG, killed in action.1
He was styled as Viscount Maitland between 1931 and 1943.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Lothians and Border Yeomanry.1
