Sir Alastair Sturgis Aird was born on 14 January 1931.2 He was the son of Malcolm Henry Aird and Joan Meredith Sturgis.1 He married Fiona Violet Myddelton, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ririd Myddelton and Lady Mary Margaret Elizabeth Petty-FitzMaurice, on 22 July 1963.2 He died on 30 September 2009 at age 78 at The Paddock, Lovell's Court, Marnhull, Dorset, EnglandG.3

Mary Elsegood was the daughter of W. Elsgood.1 She married, firstly, Sir Stephen Anderson, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Stephen Anderson, 2nd Bt. and Anne Lumley, on 2 April 1771 at Haddington, East Lothian, ScotlandG.1 She married, secondly, Rear-Admiral Hon. Thomas Shirley, son of Hon. Laurence Shirley and Anne Clarges, on 30 March 1773.1 She died in 1808.1
From 2 April 1771, her married name became Anderson.1 From 30 March 1773, her married name became Shirley.1
