Lt.-Col. Latham Valentine Stewart Blacker1

Lt.-Col. Latham Valentine Stewart Blacker was born on 1 October 1887.2 He was the son of Major Latham Charles Miller Blacker and Emily Violet Mattei.2 He married Lady Doris Peel, daughter of William Robert Wellesley Peel, 1st Earl Peel and Hon. Eleanor Williamson, on 15 February 1927.2 He died on 19 April 1964 at age 76.2
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was serving in the North West Frontier in 1908.2 He joined the service of the Queen's Own Corps of Guides in 1909.2 He was qualified as a pilot in 1911.2 He fought in the First World War, with the 57th Wilde's Rifles, during which he was wounded. and with the Royal Flying Corps, during which he was wounded again, and with the Guides in the Trans-Crispian campaign.2 He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.2 He was Commander of the Indian Force between 1919 and 1920.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1920.2 He held the office of a Tealto Dail.2 He was aboard the first flight over Mt. Everest in 1933.2 He lived at Coldhayes, Liss, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.2 He was the inventor of the Infantry Anti-Tank Projector (P.I.A.T.) which was used during the Second World War, as well as the Blacker Bombard and the Ayre Petard.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1 He lived at Coldhayes, Liss, Hampshire, EnglandG.2
