Colonel Eustace James Anthony Balfour was born on 8 June 1854.2 He was the son of James Maitland Balfour and Lady Blanche Mary Harriet Gascoyne-Cecil.1,2 He married Lady Frances Campbell, daughter of George John Douglas Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll and Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, on 12 May 1879.1 He died on 14 February 1911 at age 56.2
He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the London Scottish R.V.2 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King Edward VII.2

Lady Frances Campbell was born on 22 February 1858.1 She was the daughter of George John Douglas Campbell, 8th Duke of Argyll and Lady Elizabeth Georgiana Sutherland-Leveson-Gower.1 She married Colonel Eustace James Anthony Balfour, son of James Maitland Balfour and Lady Blanche Mary Harriet Gascoyne-Cecil, on 12 May 1879.1 She died on 25 February 1931 at age 73.1
Her married name became Balfour. She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) by Durham University, Durham, County Durham, EnglandG, in 1919.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1921.1
