Convoy SC 132 - warsailors.com (original) (raw)

Convoy SC 132 Cruising Order
departed Halifax on May 26-1943 and arrived Liverpool on June 11 (Arnold Hague's "The Allied Convoy System" gives 44 ships)

Received from Ted Agar (His source: A diary).

Cargoes have been extracted from a document received from D. Kindell, based on Arnold Hague's database. See his listing for SC 132 at Ships in all SC convoys.

Underlined ships returned to port, except those that are linked, which will automatically be underlined. The Norwegian Estrella, however, did return.

For info, some of the ships in this convoy are listed in the westbound Convoy ONS 11 in June-1943.

There's a note in the document for Convoy HX 241 in connection with Jean L-D and Fort Remy saying they both joined SC 132, having become stragglers from the HX convoy. As can be seen, these ships are not mentioned in the diary, but the ships shown in this table are those leaving from Halifax only; the two HX 241 stragglers joined later.

According to A. Hague, LST 13 was also in this convoy; again, see his listing for SC 132 at Ships in all SC convoys. Note, however, that he has also included this ship in the previous convoy, SC 131. Aditionally, he has the British Tamaha in station 34, cargo of fuel oil - not mentioned in the diary, probably because she joined from St. John's (see also SC 130). He says Fort Binger and Keila were British, and lists the ship in station 51 as Gloxinia, adding she struck an iceberg on this passage.
