A good antidote to Whatever Happened to the Soul? is:
John W. Cooper Body, Soul & Everlasting: Biblical Anthropology and the
Monism-Dualism Debate (Apollos/ Eerdmans, 2000 - updated version of the
1989 original. In it he present a persuasive case for a holistic dualism
that doesn't entail either a platonic or Cartesian dualism.
