RSS-40


Russian intercontinental ballistic missile. SS-18 Replacement. The designation SS-X-26 was originally assigned to the RSS-40, but the number was reused for another missile after its cancellation.

AKA: SS-26. Status: Cancelled 1991. Height: 36.59 m (120.04 ft). Diameter: 3.66 m (12.00 ft). Span: 3.66 m (12.00 ft).

First flight tests (2 April 1986, August 1986) were failures. Tests in December 1986, October 1987, and early 1988 were successful.

Boost Propulsion: Solid rocket.
