In 1979 following an influx of members from the soon-to-be deregistered Baking Trade Employees' Federation of Australia (a descendant of the original Baking Trade Employees' Federation of Australasia of 1914), the union was registered as the Bakery Employees' and Salesmen's Federation of Australia.
