I tested software speeds by setting all configuration options for maximum speed (including no animation when possible), measuring the maximum number of hands I could maintain for 1 minute, then repeating until I had a consistent result. Tests were done using a broadband network connection. Note that maximum speed depends on skill as well as software. A player who needs to check some hands on strategy tables will not be able to maintain the rates listed below for the faster softwares.
