The Pusey Horn
A Gift from King Canute
The first member of the ancient Pusey family to possess the ancient manor of Pusey was granted it by King Canute, through the tenure of a horn, after warning him of in immanent ambush at Gainfield. His descendants owned the manor until 1710 and the horn is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The later inscription reads:
Kynge Knould gave Wyllyam Peuse thys horne to holde by thy Lande.
