Leiopus (Leiopus) andreae Sama, 1994

Subfamilia: LAMIINAE / Tribus: ACANTHOCININI

Leiopus andreae, a rare endemic species to Cyprus, has been described from Troodos Mts. (Cyprus) by Gianfranco Sama in 1994 [✮]. The biology of this interesting beetle is very similar to its continental congener Leiopus (Leiopus) nebulosus nebulosus (Linnaeus, 1758).

Body length:	7 - 9 mm
Life cycle:	1 - 2 years
Adults in:	May - June
Host plant:	walnut (Juglans regia)
Distribution:	an endemic species to Cyprus

The depicted beetles were reared from larva found in dead walnut (Juglans regia) branch in Arakapas (Αρακαπάς) village environs (Limassol district, Cyprus) in May 2023.
