Mallosia (Eumallosia) herminae Reitter, 1890

Mallosia herminae, occuring in Azerbaijan, Iran, and Eastern Turkey, has been described from Araxesthal (Araks river valley, probably in Azerbaijan part) by Edmund Reitter in 1890 [▽]. Like most species of the genus, Mallosia herminae is ecologically associated with big Apiaceae plants close to_Ferula_ and Prangos in the roots of which its larvae develop.
Body length: 16 - 40 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - June Host plant: Ferula spp. and Prangos spp. (Apiaceae) Distribution: Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey (Gümüshane, Van, Sirnak, Bingöl, Erzurum; ❖) The depicted mounted beetles were collected in Sīroo (سرو) environs (1900-2000 m a.s.l., Sumay-ye Beradust district, Urmia county, Āzarbāyjān-e Gharbī province, Iran) on May 30-31, 2017. The living specimens were collected in: ♂ - Lowlakān (لولكان) village environs (Central district of Oshnavieh County, Āzarbāyjān-e Gharbī province, Iran) on May 25, 2019; ♀ - Serow (سرو) environs (1950 m; Sumay-ye Beradust district, Urmia county, Azarbāyjān-e Gharbī province, Iran) on May 26, 2019.
