Description
The New South Wales Ambulance Service flies a white ensign with the service badge in the fly as their official flag.
[Soure: flag obtained from NSWAS]
Clay Moss, 24 March 2005
According to Malcolm Farrow's Colours of the Fleet [frr94] the flag was authorised 9th October 1984.
David Prothero, 30 March 2005
Usage of the flag
I can confirm that the NSW Ambulance Service flag is indeed in current use. The only ambulance base that I can specifically recall driving past is the air ambulance base at Mascot Airport, where the flag is always in use, as the sole flag. I think I have seen it other ambulance bases, but can't recall.
Ralph Kelly, 3 April 2005
I am an Ambulance Paramedic based in Newcastle NSW, and have been in the service since 1977. I am the manager of the Ambulance Service's Ceremonial Guard, which we established in 1988. We are a volunteer unit staffed by serving officers, and are based in Newcastle. In regards to information on the usage of our flag, it is indeed in use constantly with the Ceremonial Guard. We carry it with the state and national flags as well as city flags on Anzac Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and other civic functions. It was used and still is at serving and retired officers funerals although recently the national flag is allowed us at funerals.
John Playford, 29 August 2006
Reverse of the flag
One the reverse, the badge is displayd normally, rather than as a mirror image.
