Central Coast Council (New South Wales, Australia) (original) (raw)

The Central Coast is the area of the New South Wales coast between Sydney and Newcastle, stretching from the lower reaches of the Hawkesbury River to Lake Macquarie, known for lakes and beaches. The largest population centre is Gosford, on the shores of Brisbane Water. In 2021, it was home to 350,000 people.

The Central Coast Council was formed as part of the 2016 local government mergers, combiningGosford City and Wyong Shire. It seems the logo in the flag was adopted relatively soon after that, and it feels like a quickly decided, relatively bland option like several other current or temporary symbols adopted by merged councils at the time.

TheCouncil Flag Flying Policyadopted in 2022 says that the Council official flag is to be flown outside the Administration building and inside the Council Chambers.
