William Holyman & Sons Pty. Ltd. With origins going back to 1861 this Tasmanian company was one of several known as the White Star Line with its red flag bearing a white star (US Navy 1961, Stewart 1963, Marine News 7/1970 and _The Log_11/1985. Appears to be taken over by TNT Group, its last ship ceasing trading in 1987 but the name at least being continued in 1993 by the formation of what is now Holyman Pty. Ltd. by a management led buyout of the shipping and new business development interests of TNT Shipping & Development. This appears to have included the remains of the William Holyman company, with subsequent name changes, but not their old livery.
Neale Rosanoski, 9 March 2010

Holyman ceased to exist upon its takeover by Patrick Corporation in 2000, itself taken over by Toll Holdings in 2006.

The house flag of Illawarra Steam Navigation Company (founded in 1858, incorporated as Illawarra and South Coast Steam Navigation Company in 1904, ceased trading in 1955). Its history can be found athttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illawarra_Steam_Navigation_Company

The house flag was practically identical to the Swiss Civil Ensign - not that an Illawarra S.N.Co. ship and a Swiss vessel were ever likely to cross path though!

[ [Intercontinental Shipping Pty. Ltd. houseflag and funnel]](../images/a/au~ics.gif) image by Neale Rosanoski, 9 March 2010

Intercontinental Shipping Pty. Ltd. of Sydney was formed in 1986 but in 1998 with increased manning costs operations were shifted to Tonga as under Mainstream Shipping Ltd. Whilst under the Australian flag their vessel "Sandra Marie" flew a blue flag with a white diamond throughout bearing the red letters "ICG" between two horizontal lines being confirmed by photos in 5/1998. The letters stand for Inter Continental Group according to The Log 11/1995 though this is the only report that I have found showing the title as two words.

Originally Scott Fell & Co. starting around 1882, he had a couple of bankruptcies but is given as beginning in coastal shipping at the beginning of last century and later formed Interstate Steamships Ltd. which traded until 1957. Under both names he used a blue flag with a white 6 pointed star bearing a red "F". This version is shown by The Log 2/1986 and Talbot-Booth books from 1936-1944. In Marine News 7/1970 a 5 pointed star is shown, apparently in error.

Jones Bothers Coal Pty. Ltd. Operated for 70 years selling its last ship in 1964. The Log 11/1987 gives the flag as blue with a white panel edged red bearing the red letters "JB" whilst the US Navy 1961 shows a completely unrelated livery with a blue flag bearing the white letters "JB". With nothing else to go on I favour the first named Australian source.
