Symbols
The municipal flag was created by Arcinoé Antônio Peixoto de Farias, following the Portuguese tradition [but see Portuguese heraldic rules in Brazilian municipal flags--Ed.]. The coat of arms at the center symbolizes the municipal government, the rhombus is the territory of the city proper. The blue field symbolizes the rural part of the municipality, the cross the Christian spirit of the people.
