Municipality

The municipality of Macieira (1,826 inhabitants in 2010; 26,007 ha) is located 450 km north-west of Florian�polis.

Description of the Flag

A diagonal tricolor on a rising diagonal, yellow-white-dark blue, with in the centre the municipal arms.

The flag and arms of Macieira are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 25 promulgated on 30 August 1993.

Article 2.
The coat of arms shall have the following characteristics.
I - A white shield with large blue edges.
II - On top, blue. Incorporated to the shield, the silhouette of a medieval wall, symbolizing Public Power and emancipation.
III - In the shield's upper part, from left to right:
a) a green maize plant;
b) seven green pines (arranged in a triangle representing the forest resources);
c) a yellow wheat plant with black borders.
IV - Surrounding the shield's base, a scroll:
a) white stripe with blue borders and the writing "MACIEIRA" in blue letters. On the scroll's ends, the white writing "30 de mar�o" (left) and "1992" (right)
b) hanging on the scroll, left and right, green apple ("macieira") branches with red fruit, symbolizing the origin of the municipality's name.

Article 3.
The flag shall have the following characteristics.
- A white rectangle of 1.80 m x 1.20 m.
- From the upper left corner, a yellow right-angled triangle measuring 1.34 m in the opposed set, 0.67 m in the adjacent side, and 1.50 m in the hypotenuse.
III `From the lower right corner, a right-angled triangle with the same dimensions as the upper one.
IV - In the center a diagonal white stripe, charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms, of 0.45 m in width, in proper colors.
