The municipality of Trabiju (1,544 inhabitants in 2010; 6,338 ha) is located 260 km of São Paulo.
Trabiju emerged in 1903 as a railway station built by the "Douradense Estrada de Ferro". Cyro Resendo, owner of the railway company, purchased from Generoso Braga a part of the Três Barras Estate to build a marshalling yard and warehouses; he named the station for the Trabiju Estate, located in the Paraíba Valley, where he had made his fortune. In the 1930s, Trabiju was the main railway node in the region, with trains serving more than 30 places. The railway was suppressed by the State in 1971. The municipality of Trabiju was established in 1996, seceding from Boa Esperança. In 2005, the "Reader's Digest" magazine awarded to Trabiju the title of "safest municipality in the Americas".
The flag of Trabiju is quartered light blue-red by a white cross, whose vertical arm is wider than the horizontal one. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.
A photo taken during a sports event (11 June 2011) shows the flag with square quarters, which makes the vertical arm of the cross even wider than the horizontal arm. Whether this is indeed the official use or a variant is unknown to me.http://folhadeboaesperanca.blogspot.fr/2011/06/karate-de-trabiju-se-prepara-para-os.html
Photos of the flag used in official context confirmed the light shade of blue but are inconclusive regarding the size of the quarters.
