Description of the flag

The flag of the University of New Brunswick flies on its two campuses, Fredericton and Saint John. Black over red, 1:2, with a large centered shield. The beavers on the shield are gold and the boat is blue on the full-scale flag, while it is black on the table flag version. The shield, which is fairly popular on campus, though not as much as the logo, has a black ship on the renditions I have seen that are not on a flag. The beavers are usually brown when not on the flag.

The motto reads SAPERE AUDE.
