Description of the flag
The municipality of Olds (9,184 inhabitants in 2016; 1,493 ha) is located 90 km north of Calgary.
Mayor Judy Dahl unveiled the Town of Olds� new flag at council�s priorities and policies meeting last Monday [23 January 2012]. The flag shows the new logo, which was designed by the Edmonton firm McRobbie Optamedia. The idea for a new logo came out of a rebranding exercise the town undertook last spring, which was Phase I of the Promoting Olds project.

According to a handout provided by Dahl, the �O� shape represents the relationship between the town and the community, as well as future and fearlessness. The blue, yellow and green colour scheme portrays the community�s energy and vibrancy, in addition to its various facets. �The yellow that flows into the blue indicates the geographic location. The shades of yellow pay tribute to the agriculture history,� said Dahl. �The shades of blue reflect technology and innovation, while the shades of green recognize the significance of the environment.�

The town of Olds seems to have three different versions of its flag based on its 2012 logo.
Version 1: The main flag still used.
The flag and logo were introduced in 2012.
