Description of the Flag
The town of Sundre, Alberta (population: 2,518) is situated 130 km NW of Calgary in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Sundre takes its name from a town in Norway, the original home of Nels T. Hagen, the town's first postmaster, who arrived in 1906.
Darrell Neuman, 8 September 2008
Passing through the town of Sundre I noticed its town flag flying in at least three places along the main street, including the town offices. I guess that makes it quite official. The flag bears the coloured town logo (as seen at http://sundre.com/main/contacts.php), but only the mountains and town name, arranged as in their newsletter (http://sundre.com/pdf/ad/ad.pdf). I attach a likeness, made using the logo on their website. This flag contrasts markedly with the one seen by Darrell Neuman in 2008.

Depicted on this colorful municipal flag are foothills, snow-capped mountain range, wheat, wagon wheel and lodgepole pine trees. The name of the town is spelled out in the shape of a bison.
