Description of the flag
The Municipal District of Vanderhoof, British Columbia (estimated population: 4,800) is located in the geographical centre of the province. This community was named after Herbert Vanderhoof who was a land surveyor and employee of the Grand Truck Pacific Development Company. "Vanderhoof" is a Dutch word for "of the farm". The Town of Vanderhoof was officially established in 1926.
On the municipal district flag are representations of agriculture (field of wheat), family oriented community (family) and lumber industry (pine forest). A large Canada goose possibly symbolizes the wildlife and hunting opportunities offered by this area.
