Description of the flag

Here is the story about the flag of the Town of Port McNeill, British Columbia:
"About ten years ago we held an open competition for a flag design. The prize for the winning entry was $100.00. We received five entries from amateur artists and sadly, none of them addressed the challenge of publicising our most important industry which is sustainable forestry. Forestry is the reason we have a Town here, so we rejected the designs and divided the prize among the five entrants.

The mayor, who has long been a campaigner for forestry designed a flag which shows small little trees being planted and growing up, being harvested (not the stump) and being replanted to once more grow into a healthy forest. This epitomises what our Town is all about."

"Port McNeill is a town on the north-eastern coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada with a population of 2,623 (2006). Originally a base camp for loggers, Port McNeill became a settlement in 1936.
