Dauphin, Manitoba (Canada) (original) (raw)
The flag of the City of Dauphin, Manitoba, has four curved diagonal stripes purple-white-olive-red, where the white stripe is much wider and contains an eight-pointed star in different colors and the name of the city "Dauphin" in yellow. Image of the flag thanks to Brad D. Collett, Chief Administrative Officer and Angela Shtykalo, Administrative Receptionist, City of Dauphin.
About the city:
"Dauphin (French for the eldest son of the king of France) is a small city in Manitoba, Canada, with a population of 7,906 as of 2006. The nearby lake was given the name "Dauphin" by the explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, sieur de La Vrendrye in 1741 in honour of the heir to the French throne. Settlers began arriving in the area in 1883 and two early settlements, Gartmore and "Old Dauphin" were established. With the coming of the railway in 1896 - the rail line ran roughly halfway between the two villages - settlement shifted to the present site. The coming of the railroad also coincided with the beginning of Ukrainian settlement in the Dauphin area. Before that time, most arrivals had been of British extraction." - from Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dauphin,_Manitoba

The city of Dauphin has used a LOB flag since 2010 (shown on the FOTW page) but perhaps since its founding in 1998 had used a flag with the city seal.
My drawing of the flag of the city of Dauphin was made with a trace of the city seal.
