The Municipality
The municipality of Les �les-de-la-Madeleine (12,054 inhabitants in 2014; 15,484 ha) covers most of the archipelago of the Magdalen Islands, located in the center of Gulf of Saint Lawrence, equidistant between Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. The municipality was established in 2002 as the merger of the former municipalities of Cap-aux-Meules, Fatima, Grande-Entr�e, Grosse-�le, Havre-aux-Maisons, L'�tang-du-Nord, and L'�le-du-Havre-Aubert. Grosse-�le separated in 2006 to form again an independent municipality.

Communaut� maritime des �les-de-la-Madeleine/Agglom�ration des �les-de-la-Madeleine is both a county-level equivalent and agglomeration in the Gasp�sie / �les-de-la-Madeleine region. It was established in 2006. No flag has been located.
