The swan (in German Schwan) on the flag of Merenschwand makes it partially canting.
Pascal Gross, 7 March 2001
[In earlier times names like -schwand, Schwand(en), Schwände etc. were often misinterpreted as coming from "Schwan" (swan).
This has often turned out to be wrong, much more likely the meaning comes from the old German term "schwenden" which means clearing trees by fire. – This emblem is proved since 1518.]
