The image represents the "crest of Châtillon", one of the only places where chestnut-trees remain.

The star-shaped devices on the emblem are spur wheels. They are adopted from the emblem of the former Lords of Font and Molière. It appears also in the emblems of the Fribourg communes of e.g. Châbles,Estavayer, Font, Lully,Ménières or Murist.
