The name of the commune of Mettemberg was changed to Mettembert. My guess is that this change dates back to the creation of Jura canton and that people wanted, at that time, to have a more francophone name.

[In French the name has always been Mettembert. In 1984 it was officially established taking into account the vast majority of French speaking inhabitants.]
