On 29 January 2006 Faido merged with the communes of Calonico, Chiggiogna and Rossura; on 1 April 2012 with Anzonico, Calpiogna, Campello, Cavagnago, Chironico, Mairengo and Osco; and on 10 April 2016 with Sobrio (see below). The new commune kept the emblem and name of Faido.

The flag of Chiggiogna represents past and present of this commune. The tower ("dei Pedrini") adjoining to the parish church, confirms the importance of this village in the medieval days of the Longobardi. The three stars allude to Chiggiogna and its two fractions of Lavorgo and Fusnengo, while the flash of lightning symbolizes electricity, industry which gave the impulsion to the commune for creating jobs.
