Or four trammel-hooks creating a cross Sable.
Christopher Southworth
In contrast to other Swiss cantons, there are no official district flags in the canton of Zurich. If the districts are still to be represented, the flags of the district capitals are used. The Affoltern district is an exception. The flag of the former Freiamt is used today unofficially for the Affoltern district. The Freiamt was part of the Knonau bailiwick. The emblem with the wall anchor cross [rather: trammel-hooks] goes back to the coat of arms of the Baron von Eschenbach (The Affoltern district is geographically not identical to the former Freiamt).
