Today a dispute exists by knowing who is the creator of the emblem of this city. Hugo John Machmar, supposed author of the Puerto Montt flag. More information in Diario Llanquihue.

The image in Wikipedia, by Sergio Arenas a.k.a. Xarucoponce, is different from the one shown in Diario Llanquihue, which has the blue triangle above, apart from many details in the ship (differences in the position of the ship and the white stripe might be caused by obverse/reverse display).
