Overview
The 14 stars represent the 14 municipalities of the department.
Jaume Ollé, 8 September 1996
At <www.risaralda.gov.co>, one can see the correct flag.
Dov Gutterman, 12 May 2002
The flag of Risaralda was adopted 3 December 1969. The Previous Flag was of thirteen stars for the municipalities of the department changed later on to fourteen stars. The green represents the fertility and agricultural wealth. Though the correct flag is the one which has a stars arch, the manufacture has imposed the semicircle model. The stars in the model of 14 from the vexillologist Profesor Restrepo Uribe appears with stars in progressive rotation that it is the correct form, though not the used.

It seem that the correct flag should be in arch, as the previous 13 star flag. Manufacturers would have them in semicircle with all the stars pointing to the top, Professor Uribe have them in progressive rotation. Here used a darker green. The only flag I have actually seen for Risaralda was just a green (darkish) fabric with a Coat of Arms in it. I do not remember the Coat of Arms (if it was the same as below), If I remember correctly, the Coat of Arms had some stars in it (presumptly 13 or 14, either in the shield or around).

The flag features the department coat of arms on a plain green field. I modified the coat of arms slightly to display a dark blue ribbon at the top bearing the name of the department, in line with the apparent coloration in the photograph.
