Středočeský kraj flag
The flags of Central Bohemian, South Bohemian (and Zlin) Regions are finally approved by all relevant councils, assemblies and committees. At present, they will only be officially *granted* by the chairman of the House of Representatives.
Central Bohemia - the eagle symbolizes the medieval Premyslid ruling dynasty and, consequently, the fact that the original Bohemian state was founded in central Bohemia (in or near to what is now Prague). The two wavy stripes represent the major rivers of the region, the Vltava ('Moldau') and the Labe ('Elbe').

The proposal for coat of arms and banner of arms of the Central Bohemian Region (Czech Republic) is now published in Petr Exner's 'Czech Vexillological Pages'.
Jan Zrzavy, 2 Oct 2001
The proposal contains two lions, Eagle of St. Wenceslas and two "rivers" - Labe and Vltava.
Aleš Křižan, 17 Oct 2001
Two more proposals were approved by the parliamentary subcommittee and now they are only waiting for inclusion into a new decree. They are flags of South Bohemian and Central Bohemian Regions (both banners of arms, see CVPfor the designs).

Proposal flag of Středočeský region: very similar to flag of Scotland(blue field, white cross), but cross has narrow red border. Author of the flag is historian Milan Buben.

This proposal is official, it was made for new established regional parliament (elections were in November 2000). May be, this flag will be pass in next session of parliament of Středočeský region (in March ?). Decision about flag and coat of arms of region is competence of regional parliaments. May be, in next months will be passed flags of another new regions.
Jiri Martinek, 27 Feb 2001
In the newspaper Pravo, March 7th, p.10, was a picture of the proposal. It is exactly the same as on FOTW.
Jiri Martinek, 20 Mar 2001
Proposal of flag wasn't approved (surprisingly) at the regional parliament session (20th March). Perhaps a new proposal will be arranged in the next days...
Jiri Martinek, 23 Mar 2001
The Regional Assembly of Central Bohemia has approved the proposals for the regional symbols. The coat of arms (and flag) is red - silver/white quartered, the 1st and 4th fields are red with Bohemian lions, the 2nd field is silver/white with black St. Wenceslas eagle, and the 3rd is silver/white with two blue wavy stripes. Note - only proposal so far!
