Meaning:
The bridge is a representation of the local heaven´s bridge (German: Himmelsbrücke). The bridge crossed the Spree River. It had been a wooden bridge first, finished in 1709, which was replaced by a bridge of stone, finished in 1796. Due to a legend, a lyer crossing the bridge would cause its collapse. The river was deviated and the bridge nowadays is crossing the village creek.
