Zusamaltheim Coat of Arms
Shield parted per pale of Gules and Argent a melusine Argent, crowned and double queued Or and dressed Sable, chief Sable three crosses crosslet Or in fess.
Meaning:
The area of the current municipality belonged to the Lordship of Bocksberg. Gilg Rieter of Bocksberg sold his part of the lordship to the Chapter of Augsburg, in the arms represented by the tinctures white and red in pale, in 1504. The chapter already owned estates in the nearby Zöschingen before 1282. Later the chapter became local ruler in the village. The melusine is taken from the family arms of the Lords of Bocksberg. A melusine is a wife having a dragon tail or a fish tail but appears to her husband as a human being. She brings wealth to her husband, unless he sees her proper shape revealed. She is considered to be some kind of water fairy. Martin Luther deemed her to be a succubus, a female demon or witch. More details can be seen here:English WIKIPEDIA
