Shield parted per fess, above Gules a wolf's head Or, beneath Or a heraldic rose Gules seeded Or.
Meaning:
Lutter Castle in the late Middle Ages had been an apple of discord between the Bishops of Hildesheim and the Welfen Dukes. The colours red and golden had been those of "Bischofslutter", which was the former municipal name, and the Bishopric of Hildesheim. The family arms of the Lords of Lutter displayed a wolf salient over a rose. The rose was kept but the wolf was modified (German: gemindert) to its head, in order to distinguish the arms from those of Peine County and Peine City.
The arms were approved by President of Braunschweig District in 1963.
