It is a red - white - red vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the white stripe.

Bergstraße County Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is quartered into blue and silver (= white). Above right is a silver (= white) embattled tower on top of a mountain of the same colour. Above left is a red blossom seeded golden (= yellow). Below right is a red, facetted cross fitchy patty. Below left is a rampant lion striped silver (= white) and red.
Meaning:
The tower is representing Starkenburg castle, centre of a district (Amt). The blossom is symbolizing the bloom in spring alongside the Bergstra�e. The cross is representing the Abbey of Lorsch. The Hessian lion is symbolizing the affiliation with Hesse since 1938.
