Zeitlofs Coat of Arms
Shield parted per fess, above Argent a fess Or charged with three pales wavy Gules, beneath Gules a beech twig Argent with six leaves.
Meaning:
The current town was established in 1978 by a merger of the market towns of Zeitlofs proper and Detter and the municipalities of Weissenbach, Rossbach and Eckarts-Rupboden. The biggest part of the current town was ruled by the Barons of Thüngen, who kept their rights between 1328 and 1815 againts the Bishopric of Würzburg and the Fulda Imperial Abbey. The upper half displays the family arms of the barons, while the lower half is representing the six settlement cores as listed above.
